How to Cut Out a Logo in Adobe Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is a powerful tool for creating and editing logos. When you’re working on a project, you may need to cut out a logo from a larger image or design. In this article, we’ll show you how to effectively cut out a logo in Adobe Illustrator.
Step 1: Open the image in Adobe Illustrator
Start by opening the image containing the logo in Adobe Illustrator. Go to File > Open and select the image file from your computer. The image will open in the Illustrator workspace.
Step 2: Use the Pen Tool to create a path
Once the image is opened, select the Pen Tool from the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen. Use the Pen Tool to create a path around the logo that you want to cut out. Click and drag to create anchor points and curve the path as needed to follow the edges of the logo.
Step 3: Convert the path into a selection
After you have completed the path around the logo, you can convert it into a selection. Go to the “Selection” menu at the top of the screen and choose “Make Selection”. This will convert the path into a selection based on the area inside the path.
Step 4: Cut out the logo
With the selection active, you can now cut out the logo from the image. Simply press Ctrl+X (Windows) or Command+X (Mac) to cut the selected area. This will remove the logo from the image, leaving you with a transparent background where the logo used to be.
Step 5: Save the logo
Once you have cut out the logo, you can save it as a separate file. Go to File > Save As and choose a file format such as PNG or SVG to save the logo with a transparent background.
And there you have it! You have successfully cut out a logo from an image using Adobe Illustrator. This technique can be very useful when you need to isolate a logo for use in other design projects or marketing materials. With a bit of practice, you can become skilled at cutting out logos and other elements in Illustrator to improve your design workflow.
